Saint-Peter Church in Kadumim square, Old Jaffa

It was our Urban sketchers meeting of June, under a strong heat, the most couragous sketchers came and the principal aim was - before finding an interesting point of view to draw - to find some shadow to seat and an air courant to survive ! I tried different places and went to hide in bushes but it was worse it:  I am still alive to write this post and I enjoyed myself a lot !
This place is really interesting to draw because first of all the architecture is very nice, a mix between old arab houses, the tall and white Saint-Peter Church and the fountain. Many people are passing by, most tourists, and stop to observe this large square where Napoleon Bonaparte came long time ago…

Panoramic view on Tel Aviv - Jaffa

Here is a panoramic post ! What a funny format to work with…
The 3 first paintings were made during the Pessah holidays in april in Jaffa. The restaurant Shaffa placed a lot of colored chineese paper lamps in the street and the effect was really beautiful. The perfect occasion to try different techniques to express this color explosion.

This one was made on the promenade of Tel Aviv, near Charles Clore beach…

This one was made last week when the TV came to interview Urban sketcher Israel for the evening news about our group exhibition during the week of illustration in Tel Aviv.
It was made in Park HaYarkon, North Tel Aviv

This one is from today ! This is Shavouot and people are buying a lot of things to fest tonight. This is in Karmel's market, in Tel Aviv, you can see some arab's specialities on the left (knafe and cakes)… A lot of people are passing, buying, talking, a lot of fun for the drawing hunters that we are !

Rabin Square / Tel Aviv - Sketchcrawl May 23rd

Here is my production of the day… It was too tempting to draw the first plan because the group was very big, a lot of new and friendly faces, funny caracters sometimes, and it was a bit crowded in the shadow of this nice olive tree. Still the environment is very typical of Rabin Square and if I "filled up" too much my second drawing, I decided to be a bit more minimalist in the last one…

Colorful end of winter in Tel Aviv

I like to jump from a technique to another one lately, trying to keep on experimenting…
After my black and white attempts, here is a collection of works I did recently, using simple wax children pencils and watercolors.  The mix of oily pencils and watercolor creates sometimes an interesting effect…

A christmas in France

I went to Paris to visit my family for Christmas and did a funny serie of my nephews sleeping in a midst of covers and bed shits, an hommage to Egon Schiele…

Maxime sleeping

Emilie is waking up… slowly slowly

Toam trying to wake up his cousin Maxime with the perfect tool

Maxime waking up… also slowly slowly !

Also a double page made in the train going to Paris : 45 minutes of travelers lost in their thoughts and big coats.
